Kassidy is 5 today!!!!!

Wow, 5 years have gone by....where did they all go? I can't even truly remember Kassidy as a baby anymore except for the pictures / movies of her. It doesn't seem real, it all seems like a movie I watched and replay in my mind. I remember when she was still a baby thinking to myself that I have to remember every moment exactly how it is but now it is just flashes in my head. Sad how we forget the good stuff like the first time they laugh or smile or grab your finger. But I guess if we remembered everything about the "baby time", every child would be an only child....forgetting is God's gift to us so that we will have more children that will bless our hearts and lives. Happy Birthday Kassidy.

Bald is beautiful

Little man got his head shaved today...it is amazing how much older he looks without hair!

Video: Kassidy's new pets

Kassidy got one of her birthday gifts from us early...these Furreal baby birds. She saw real birds at the petstore before Christmas and wanted one and both of her parents said NO!!!! So this is as close as she is getting to a pet bird, for now anyway. They are pretty cute, when you give them their bottle (or stick your finger) in their beaks they wake up and start moving and tweeting. The best thing about them....they have an off button.

Video: Shane is a one man band

Watch out cousin CJ, there is a new musician in town!

Video: Making dirt pies

Video: Painting with chalk

I read in a magazine that if you mix 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup cornstarch and food coloring you could make chalk that you paint on. Guess what....it works. When it dries it is just like regular chalk but you know for sure it is safe - not toxic with lead. And it washes away a lot easier with water too.

Happy Valentines Day from all of us to all of you!

Happy Vday to all. The kids and I made these hearts a few weeks ago out of playdough. Once they dried, the kids painted them with glitter glue. As for an update on the potty training, we started on Tuesday and finally today we actually went weewee in the potty. Between Tuesday and now we have had A LOT of accidents and yelling (from both of us) because my independent daughter was "afraid" to sit on the potty. Today was the first day I got her to actually sit on it without my having to yell and scream (and cry) at her and then she asked me to teach her how to make it come out....OMG, what do you say to that? I tried so many different ways to explain it to her but she just wasn't getting it. (This also made me wonder if she even feels when she has to go.) But on our last sitting session she actually did it and the smile that lit up her face when she realized she was doing it made me want to cry. She was SO proud and so was I. I know that we only won a battle today and the war is still on but I also know we are one step closer. And for anyone who is wondering if I am embarrassed about all of this....I am not. I was worried about it but I have never been embarrassed about it knowing that she is delayed in a few other areas too. And the idea of this blog is to share our every day experiences with you whether they are good or bad. I also know that this potty training thing is going to seem like a piece of cake once she starts school...my hair just got more grey. Our love to all.

Shane's latest masterpiece

Kassidy's latest masterpiece

Shane's new quirk

Shane's new quirk is lining everything up in a line, usually straight ........ cars, magnets, alphabet blocks.

Now that Daddy, Mommy and Kassidy are finished with the flu (boy was that fun) tomorrow starts our...Kassidy-is-a-big-girl-now-so-no-more-diapers-before-I-turn-5 week. I have been trying to prepare her all weekend (like I have the past 2 years) and she is not accepting it very well but starting tomorrow she will have no choice. There is going to be a lot of crying (Kassidy will probably cry too) and accidents I am sure so pray for me PLEASE. And hopefully brother will just get on the band wagon and do it too. Maybe she will surprise me and just do it.
Once that is done we start Kassidy-is-a-big-girl-so-we-wear-clothes-all-the-time and Kassidy-is-a-big-girl-so-we-sleep-in-our-own-beds. I was always telling her, "When you turn 5 you can't wear diapers anymore" or "when you turn 5, you have to wear clothes all the time" etc. She told me last week that she doesn't want to turn 5....my hair is turning more grey as you read this.
